Expat Iranians in the US, especially Jews, are quite scared now with the arrest of two Iranian spies planning terror attacks on US soil.
Two Iranian Spies Arrested
On August 9, 2018 US security forces arrested two Iranian spies on US soil. They were not just gathering intelligence on Americans and Iranians who oppose the regime. Rather, it seems that they were canvassing Jewish and Israeli associated locations to plan a terror attack.
Ahmadreza Mohammadi-Doostdar and Majid Ghorbani are Iranian nationals, one a dual citizen and one with permanent U.S. residency. They were both arrested on charges of acting as agents on behalf of the Iranian government.
According to the FBI, together they were preparing terror attacks on individuals who posed a threat to the Iranian regime on American soil. As part of their espionage, they were canvassing Jewish and Israeli connected facilities, as well as events in the United States.
Supposedly, these two Iranian spies arrested were targeting Jews in Chicago. The FBI agents who were watching them, saw them conducting surveillance operations at Jewish centers for university students in Chicago.
US Law officials are already saying that these two are just the tip of the iceberg of the Iranian espionage apparatus on US soil. This is not something new, but a system that has already been in place for years, going back to the first term of President Obama and even earlier.
Leading lawmakers and officials state that “The recent arrest of two Iranian agents…is just ‘the tip of the iceberg’ in terms of the Islamic Republic's efforts to conduct intelligence operations in America that could result in a terrorist attack” https://t.co/TB9avr7OGN
