If Israel and Iran went to war

Yes, it would be frightening. But, so have been other wars that Israel has battled in the past. The bottom line is that Israel has a clear military advantage on nearly every front. However, the atomic weapon is the game-changer. Once a regime that is hell-bent on attacking Israel gains an atomic weapon, it may not be sufficient to have a stronger military or even better atomic weapons. Suicidal regimes with atomic weapons can radically change the world as we know it. so, we need to applaud Prime Minister Netanyahu who has never let his eye off of the ball. He never forgets that the #1 strategic threat to the State of Israel is Iran, and uses any chance he can to make sure the entire world sees this threat as clearly as we do.

Alternatives to War

Israel does not need to be in a state of War with Iran. Before the ayatollahs took over in 1979, Iran was one of the most Westernized countries in the Middle East. Many American businesses set up shop in Iran. They helped modernize their economy. The masses in Iran actually prefer the good old days before the radical Islamists took over.

It is for this reason that the Obama administration’s decision to NOT support the protests in Iran was probably one of the worst geopolitical decisions of the Obama administration.

Keep the Pressure Up

The Trump administration ought to continue the financial pressure on the Iranian regime, and do whatever it can to help foment and back up the protesters. There is an alternative. Israel and Iran do not need to be in a state of war. But it won’t happen overnight. It may even take decades. But, a military confrontation should be avoided at all costs.
