The IDF says it carried out a new wave of strikes on Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon in response to attacks on the border.
A fighter jet and attack helicopter hit a number of buildings used by Hezbollah, and a drone struck a group of operatives. Meanwhile, another aircraft and tank hit weaponry and a Hezbollah observation post, the IDF says, an IDF tank also shelled a launch site in southern Lebanon after a projectile was fired at the Mount Dov area. Several rockets were also fired at the Rosh Hanikra area, the IDF adds.
Yesterday an air to air missile was fired at Israeli jets over Lebanon. Israel was able to shoot them down over the Kineret. Hezbollah has increased the scope and intensity of its attacks on Northern Israel since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war. Due to the danger, especially from ATGMs (anti-tank missiles) tens of thousands of Israelis were moved away from the border.
While Israel has so far been able to hold Hezbollah back from invading the North, the situation cannot continue as is.
War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz, spoke recently during a visit to Ma’alot-Tarshiha in the Upper Galilee. He warned, “If the world doesn’t get Hezbollah away from the border, Israel will do it.”
Prime Minister Netanyahu Also added: “There are those who think they can expand their attacks against our troops and against civilians. This is playing with fire. Fire will be met with much stronger fire. They must not try us, because we have displayed only a little part of our power. We will harm those who harm us.”
Most observers believe that as the war with Hamas winds down, Israel will begin the struggle to push Hezbollah North of the Litani river - some 20 miles North of the border with Lebanon. The war with Hamas is just the beginning of a wider regional war.
