Harrowing Account from Survivor of Hamas Massacre

The massive and coordinated attack by a few thousand Hamas terrorists should have ended with a few thousand terrorist corpses. But, due to complacency of some Israeli Army generals and overreliance on technology, more than 1,500 Israelis were killed, slaughtered, and taken hostage.

It was the single most terrible day in Jewish History since the Holocaust, more than 75 years ago. The accounts of the survivors and the bravery of the heroes will be spoken about and learned for decades.

One of the clear conclusions that must be made following the Simchat Torah incursion is that Israel can never ever rely on big fancy walls and hi-tech fences. As impressive as these things may look, they can also be overcome by terrorists. Additionally, smaller communities that have first response units must all be beefed up by at least twice or three times as much as they have been until today.

The communities that survived the incursions were the ones whose first response units were able to stay in control longer than others.

But most of all, Israel must never, never let her guard down. The Yom Kippur War was the first time that Israel was caught off guard in a major way. But the #1 hero of the Yom Kippur War, Avigdor Kahalani, said, this was even worse than the Yom Kippur War.

When the fog settles at the end of this War, Israel will not be the same Israel as it was beforehand. Stage 2 of the War will begin in the coming days. The key question is whether or not Israel will finish the job or will they stop and kick the can down the road yet again.
