WhatsappWhen one comes face to face with the truth, it can change one’s mind forever. Many of Israel’s peace camp changed their views on October 7th or soon after. So many myths were blown to pieces on that fateful day when more than a thousand Israeli civilians were massacred by thousands of marauding Arab terrorists who flooded in from Gaza.

Back in 2005, Israel took a chance and handed the Arabs in Gaza their own State. Not a single Jew or Israeli soldier was in Gaza following the summer of 2005. Israel instituted the policy that the peace camp had preached for decades. They said, “Give them their own State and we’ll have peace.” “You can’t occupy one million Arabs in Gaza. It will blow up in your face.”
So, under intense pressure from the activist Supreme Court and Attorney General, Prime Minister Sharon, in dictatorial fashion, completely ignored the policies that he preached during the election in the previous year and announced a one-sided disengagement of Israelis from Gaza. What that meant in practice is that he kicked out more than 8,000 Jews from their homes and instantly endangered more than half a million Israelis who now had terrorists encroaching closer to their towns and cities in Israel.
From the very start, it was crystal clear that all Israel received in return for it’s one-sided non-agreement to walk away from Gaza was a constant barrage of missiles. Israel fought several mini wars against Hamas in Gaza, but never did anything major against the strategic tunnel network that Hamas was building for nearly 20 years.
On October 7th, the rude awakening came. Israel is now more unified than any other time in it’s recent history. Even most of the opponents of Netanyahu have lost any trust in reaching an amicable agreement with the Arabs. The shock, surprise and awakening by this former hostage indeed is symbolic of what hundreds of thousands of Israelis feel today.
