Like the rest of the world, Israel is taking the coronavirus seriously. While very few people have been infected by the deadly virus, the health ministry has issued new guidelines for he country.

These include cancelling mass gatherings and preventing tourists coming in from much of the EU and Asia.

Unfortunately, while this has helped contain the virus, it has begun to hurt the Israeli economy, especially in the tourist arena. El Al has already let hundreds of employees go and more layoffs are expected in the future.

Most hurtful is that the world acclaimed Jerusalem marathon is not potentially cancelled. Many athletes from around the word were expected to attend.

Like anywhere else right now, Israel has to take measures to protect its citizens, despite the cost.
