Last night, President Trump announced that Israel has agreed to a limited withdrawal from Gaza to facilitate negotiations for a hostage-prisoner exchange, expected to occur within 72 hours of Hamas accepting Trump’s proposed plan.

President Trump took decisive action, despite Hamas’ unclear response, posting: “Based on the statement just released by Hamas, I believe they are ready for lasting peace. Israel must immediately cease bombing Gaza, so that we can safely and quickly remove the hostages! Right now, it is too dangerous to do so. We are already in discussions on the details that need to be finalized. This is not just about Gaza, this is about lasting peace in the Middle East.”

The IDF stated it will maintain a strong presence in Gaza during the 72-hour window, adopting a defensive stance to protect its soldiers.

Contrary to earlier IDF reports denying any withdrawal, Trump’s post indicates a partial withdrawal of 57% will occur to allow Hamas 72 hours to release all hostages.

Should Hamas fail to comply, the IDF will resume offensive operations in Gaza City, returning to previous positions. Despite the partial withdrawal, the IDF will remain in the Philadelphi Corridor, Rafah, Khan Yunis, Beit Hanoun, Shujaiya, and other areas during this period.
