You gotta love the Maccabeats. They have beautiful voices. Their style is fun. And over the years, they have put out original music as well as covers that will blow you away. Some songs are the tunes of others with original lyrics that you’ll love. The Maccabeats sing about different holidays, often with a twist. This Jewish acapella band became wildly famous in 2010 for their song called “Candlelight.”
That song took the world by storm. Yes, many Jewish people throughout the world knew who the Maccabeats were. But after that song came out, everyone knew them! And despite the fame, they stuck to their Jewish identity and didn’t try to hide it. After all, that’s what the song lyrics were about. The story of Hanukkah and holding on to our Judaism despite trying to be stripped of our Jewish identity by the Greeks.
In this video, they are singing for America as America celebrates 250 years. They are showing their appreciation for a country that has been very good to the Jewish people over the years. And for a country whose founding is based on Biblical principles—something that many people have sadly forgotten. Maybe this version of America the Beautiful from a Jewish group is a good reminder!
