Will Iran Retaliate Against Israel?

With days to go until the US election, the regional conflict between Israel and the Iran has the potential to spiral out of control. Israel’s historic attack on Iranian military targets was the first clearly direct attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s infrastructure. Iran has already said and vowed that they will attack back.

But how will the Ayatollah respond? The Iranian regime knows that its credibility is on the line and so it must strike Israel again with many more ballistic missiles than before. However, its strategic sites are now unguarded from the air after Israel took out the Russian made air defense system protecting them.

The Ayatollah, who is reportedly very ill is in a quandary, and for the first time, many sense his absolute power slipping away – perhaps even before he dies.

Iran must retaliate and if its attack does not elicit the type of crushing blow it wants, the only other hope for the regime is that in its demise after Israel destroys its oil fields and nuclear sites. In that case, both Russia and China may have no choice but to intervene, because if they don’t, their ability hold back the West will be crippled. After all, Russia relies on Iranian drones for its war against Ukraine and China relies on its oil and gas.

They may not like the Ayatollahs, but they need them and these facts are the only thing keeping the Iranian regime from already imploding.
