At the G20 summit hosted by India, it was announced that a new rail line will create a link between Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
This is a huge deal as it is set to revolutionize trade and commerce across multiple continents. The project, which would cost $20 billion would not only link the above countries but would be part of the potential link between Eilat and the future Saudi city of Neom.
“The hope of the Saudis is to open the country to investment, and part of that is the city of Neom,” explained Dr. Yoel Gozansky, senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS). “For this they need government investment, and also investment from the private sector.”
It seems this plan is set to move forward whether there is normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel or not.
