Despite the intense pain, we must hear the stories of these Auschwitz survivors. We must never forget. Memory is part of who we are.
Auschwitz Survivors Share Their Chilling Stories
We live in a world where there are those who deny the Holocaust. But how can anyone deny something that there is so much documention and proof of? How can anyone deny all the survivors sharing their own personal stories? The Germans themselves documented everything even! You can go to the death camps and see what’s left of the horrors! You can see the evidence! It’s disturbing and terrifying that people deny history—that people claim the Holocaust didn’t happen or that the facts are exaggerated. They will pay for their evil. They will pay for choosing to stand with Nazis against G-d’s people.
Even though it is painful beyond words, we must always remember. As Jews, memory is part of our nation. We remember all parts of our history—the good and the bad. We can’t pretend the bad didn’t happen. It’s part of us. We even still remember events from thousands of years ago—like our brutal slavery in Egypt. We never erased that part just because it’s so painful and horrific. We are commanded to remember as a people. G-d commands us.
We must always remember, but we must always stay strong as well. We give ourselves time to mourn and shed tears. And we also as a nation have always gotten back up again. We don’t push away the pain. We learn how to live with it in our memories and grow from our experiences. We learn how to strengthen our faith and connect with G-d even when He feels hidden from us. And when He is hidden so to say, He never abandons us. Keep remembering, keep believing, and keep having faith.
