Tel Aviv is known for a lot of things. But is it known for hearing Hava Nagila on the seafront? Probably not. But maybe now it is!
Hava Nagila in Tel Aviv
Even for someone who doesn’t know many Hebrew songs, Hava Nagila is usually known. It was composed over 100 years ago! And it is still being used today throughout the world.
What a perfect song to use to bring some joy to people at the Tel Aviv seafront! Bringing joy and laughter to others does not always take a lot of time or effort. It is a choice. And this guy made the choice to do something a little bit different and fun.
Sometimes, the world can seem crazy. It can be scary. But it is the small moments like these that just brighten up everything. It reminds us that there are people out there who just want to spread a little joy.
Happiness in Judaism
Happiness is an important aspect of Judaism. Prophets could not receive prophecy unless they were happy! Can you imagine?
Jewish holidays are supposed to be filled with happiness. G-d built it in Judaism to have opportunities to be happy. It enhances our lives! There is a saying that laughter is the best medicine, and it is true.
A famous Hassidic Rabbi, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov said, “It is a big Mitzvah to always be happy.”
It may not always be easy, especially when things seem bad. But having faith in G-d and knowing that He controls everything is a comforting thing. What is happier than feeling your Creator hold you every step of your life?
