It is not uncommon to hear about miracles that occur in the Holy Land. But this specific miracle is different than anything you will have ever seen. The story goes back to a group of Orthodox Jews who were concerned about one thing – eating Matzah (unleavened bread) on Passover. This is not the kind of thing that usually has any connection with the Israel Armed Forces. But in this specific situation, it made all of the difference in the world.

One of the unique aspects of this miracle that occurred in Israel is that it included women who serve in vital roles of the Israel Defense Forces. This has always been the case, from before the formation of the State of Israel. Today, some of the leading commanders recognize the special abilities that many women have – especially as it regards to patience and focus at watching computer screens to monitor enemy movement.

David Ben-Gurion once commented that Israel doesn’t rely on miracles, but it takes it into account. It is this kind of spirit that allowed Israel to overcome six invading Arab enemies and fight and persist in keeping the nascent State of Israel alive. It is this spirit that is infused in all of those who fight to defend Israel against it’s enemies. As Netanyahu and others have pointed out repeatedly, “If Israel puts its weapons down, it will be killed. If the Arabs put their weapons down, there will be peace.” Israel must stay vigilant at all times, but a little bit of help from the One above goes along way too.
