For months the residents of the Dagan neighborhood in Efrat have been reporting ongoing automatic gunfire coming from the Arab Muslim occupied city of Beit Lechem.
Monday night the automatic gunfire sounded different and the residents noted that it was closer. Sure enough, one family found many bullets had penetrated their house – even as far as hitting their family playroom.
Dagan was marketed as an upscale neighborhood, just minutes from Jerusalem. Unfortunately, it was built across from Artur and the Southern suburbs of Beit Lechem. When Dagan was built, Beit Lechem appeared to be quiet and few issues occurred. However, recently terror groups have embedded themselves in Beit Lechem, turning it into a vipers nest.
After the shooting, the Efrat municipality released the following statement in response to the dangerous escalation:
Dear Residents,
Last night, loud gunshots were heard close to the Dagan neighborhood.
Security and military forces arrived at the scene to rule out any security threat within Efrat.
Their inspection revealed that this was not a deliberate shooting, but an incident between clans from the nearby villages.
Although the shooting was not aimed at Efrat, this morning it was discovered that damage had been caused to the window of a house in the neighborhood.
We consider this a serious and significant event, and are working with the security forces to prevent further incidents.
