Keeping the soul of Donny Morris z”l (who perished in the Meron Lag Ba’omer Tragedy) alive for you to learn from and be inspired by.
Meron Lag Ba’omer Tragedy
Just a few months ago, a terrible tragedy befell the Jewish people, the Meron Lag Ba’omer Tragedy. 45 innocent lives were taken far too soon. And it happened during such a happy time on the Jewish calendar. One special soul that was lost was a 19 year old named Donny Morris. This song was made in his memory. Learning about Donny’s special soul will inspire you to be the best you can be.
Tehillim/Psalms 31, 6
בְּיָדְךָ אַפְקִיד רוּחִי פָּדִיתָה אוֹתִי יְהוָה אֵל אֱמֶת.
“Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.”
On Lag Ba’omer 5781, the Jewish people lost 45 precious souls, among them our dear friend, Donny Morris z”l. Donny’s warm smile, infectious laugh, love for Torah, and thirst for growth brightened the lives of those around him. When we learned of the news surrounding Donny’s tragic petirah, we needed to respond in the most authentic way we knew: an original composition in his memory. We composed this song in the week following the petirah and we recorded it a few days later. The words of the song speak about how we place our souls into the hands of Hashem with trust and faith, and we long for the day when Hashem’s Kingship will be restored forever. We daven collectively that Donny’s life inspires us to be the best version of ourselves, to keep on striving for more, and to daven to Hashem that our sorrows turn into that warm smile. – Rinas Amcha
