The State of Israel came to be against all odds, continues to grow and thrive against all odds and will continue to thrive, prosper and emerge as a powerhouse – not only in the Middle East, but in the entire world. The moral code of Israel, exactly that which is being attacked by the Jew-haters, is exactly the strength of the Jewish nation. It is that which sets it apart from nearly every country in the entire world.
Israel never gets involved in endless wars. It has been attacked endlessly from before Day 1 of the Jewish State and continues to be attacked incessantly since then. It does not begin attacks against any of it’s enemies as it’s enemies have never stopped attacking it for even one day.
But despite the seemingly endless battles that Israel faces against its implacable foes, it has signed one agreement after another with its neighbors in order to bring stability, calm, and prosperity to the Middle East. The first major step in this direction was made by Menachem Begin who signed a peace agreement with Anwar Sadat of Egypt. Sadat was assassinated a few years after and the peace with Egypt has not been a warm peace, but it has held for more than 45 years.
Then, around 20 years later, this was followed up by a peace agreement with Jordan by Yitzhak Rabin and King Hussein. That was a major achievement on Israel’s largest border that is underestimated and overshadowed by the horrendous Oslo agreement. At Oslo, Rabin basically capitulated to terror and armed the Palestinian Authority with machine guns, basically inaugurating two decades of terror activity against the State of Israel.
But under the leadership of Prime Minister Netanyahu, and with the ingenuity of hundreds of thousands of young Israelis, Israel has marched forward into a world of financial leadership that has already ushered in more agreements with moderate Arab countries. Bahrain, UAE, and soon other Arab countries. They have all made the fateful decision to work with Israel and not against Israel.
The Iranian bombing of Bahrain and UAE has displayed clearly that the hatred of different groups of Arabs in the Middle East is based more on religious fundamentalism and not on other matters such as land rights. Israel’s steady hand under Prime Minister Netanyahu has been a source of consistency and moderation that has drawn in millions of Arabs towards a more hopeful future for the Middle East, overcoming much of the tribal hatred that is often shown towards the Jewish people.
And after all is said and done, Israel draws its strength from its deep sense of history, tradition, and yes – from G-d.
