Your Average Israeli is a Superhero in Disguise
This video is really powerful. In Israel, military service is mandatory. There are exceptions, but many people serve the country in some way or another. So your average Israeli has probably done some type of army service. And you probably have no idea what. When you see someone walking on the street, you don’t know whether he was in intelligence, or went on secret missions, or was a medic in the army. And maybe that person did something completely different in his army service. Every job is important and vital.
You don’t realize that a restaurant manager could have been in one of the most elite units. You don’t think about the fact that the old Israeli sitting outside a park bench might have fought in the Yom Kipper War or that his son sitting with him guards a checkpoint in Judea and Samaria. Did you think about their secret identities? Did you know that your average Israeli is really a superhero?
When we think of superheroes, we think of Superman or Batman. But Israeli soldiers are the greatest superheroes of all.
Israel is built on the blood, sweat, and dedication of “regular” people doing things that are anything but regular. As the person who wrote the beautiful idea in this video said, “But the truth is, we are a country of superheroes.” This is such an uplifting message for the people of Israel.
