Dr. Tamara Cofman Wittes worked for the Brookings Institute, which receives funding from Qatar, not a friendly country to the USA and an enemy of Israel. Qatar pushes its anti-USA, anti-Israel global agenda via propaganda on its own, very well state-funded media empire Al-Jazeera.
Senator Cruz corners Dr. Wittes with a number of extremely embarrassing points about her research, the funding Brookings Institute was involved in, work of hers funded by Qatar and about her boss, the head of Brookings, who recently had to resign because he was working as a foreign agent for Qatar!
If that was not enough, Senator Cruz brings up her very anti-Israel record, reminding her of public statements she made urging Arab Muslim countries to not sign on to the Abraham Accords to normalize ties with Israel as well as her publicly insulting Egyptian President Al-Sisi.
Senator Cruz is baffled that the Biden administration could continuously appoint people with such anti-Israel records that go against the national interests of the USA.
Unfortunately, since the nomination committee has a majority of Democrats, her appointment is almost guaranteed, despite her anti-Israel record.
