Check out what this Jewish a cappella group did for Israel’s Independence Day. Using Israel’s Proclamation of Independence, they created THIS masterpiece.

Israel’s Independence Day

Israel’s Independence Day is extremely special. A nearly broken nation that in fact was not broken at all was able to stand strong against surrounding enemies. With the obvious help of God, Holocaust survivors who the world thought would perish actually turned into war heroes. They helped create the modern state of Israel.

This song is unique. The Maccabeats, a popular Jewish a cappella group, took some of the words from Israel’s Proclamation of Independence and turned it into something truly amazing.

Lyrics

Here are the lyrics to this creative song translated:

The Land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish people.
The pioneers, defiant returnees, and defenders made deserts bloom, revived the Hebrew language, built villages and towns, and created a thriving community.
Undaunted by difficulties, restrictions and dangers, they never ceased to assert their right to a life of dignity, freedom and honest toil in their national homeland.
Accordingly we are here assembled and hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.
The State of Israel will be open for immigration and it will be based on freedom, justice and peace. It will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture for the benefit of all its inhabitants.
Accordingly we are here assembled and hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.
This right is the natural right of the Jewish people to be masters of their own fate, like all other nations.
Accordingly we are here assembled and hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.
