Professor’s Epic Response to CNN Reporter Who Asked about Occupation

CNN Reporter asks International Law Professor about a statement by Jordan’s Foreign Minister demanding that Israel “must withdraw from occupied Arab land.” Professor Eugene Kontorovich’s response about occupation was epic, exposing the lunacy of the question itself.

What Occupation?

Most politicians and journalists do not pay attention to historic facts when referring to Israel. According to international law the last time the international community made a legal binding decision on the lands in Judea & Samaria, aka the West Bank, was at the San Remo conference in 1920. At that post World War I conference, the powers of the world divided up the Middle East into 22 Arab states and one Jewish state. Whereas the Balfour Declaration in 1917 gave the whole land mass of Israel and Jordan today to the Jewish people, it was just a declamatory document. The San Remo Resolution was a legally-binding foundational document under international law that placed all of Israel, including Judea & Samaria in Jewish control. Therefore, according to international law, Judea and Samaria belongs to the Jewish people, in addition to the eternal and Biblical Jewish connection to the land.

True Occupation

The only time Judea and Samaria has been occupied has been by Jordan! After the 1948 War of Independence, Jordan illegally occupied Judea & Samaria, aka the “West Bank”. Jordan was part of the Arab military effort to destroy the fledgling state of Israel and throw the Jews into the sea. This was their words, not ours.

When did Jordan and the other Arab countries launch this war to destroy Israel? After rejecting the United Nations partition plan that Israel accepted.

That is also why it is a lie to say that the “West Bank” belongs to the Arabs because of the partition plan. The Arab world rejected the partition plan. From that moment it was off the table as an official solution, because they threw it into the garbage.

The Other Real Jordanian Occupation

The other real occupation is the Hashemite occupation of the Arabs in Jordan. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan are officially from Saudi Arabia. They are not from the area called Jordan! The British gave the Hashemites the land of Jordan as a thank you gift for their assistance in World War I!
