WhatsappThe International Criminal Court (ICC) has ruled that Israel is within its jurisdiction for a trial on actions the IDF has taken with Hamas controlled Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria.
The ICC ruling is controversial and gives the ICC jurisdiction over Israel, which is not even a party to the Rome Statute. The same goes for the USA, which also does not recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction.
For all of the talk of how “anti-Israel” Biden’s administration is, it has become clear that they see the ICC ruling as completely prejudice against the Jewish State.
“The United States objects to today’s International Criminal Court decision regarding the Palestinian situation. Israel is not a State Party to the Rome Statute,” tweeted State Department spokesperson Ned Price, referring to the statute which established the ICC.
“We will continue to uphold [US] President [Joe] Biden’s strong commitment to Israel and its security, including opposing actions that seek to target Israel unfairly,” Price said.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and DM Benny Gantz have stated they are going to defend any Israel citizen targeted by the ICC.
