When Iranians are accusing the United States and Israel of crimes, it echoes the justifications of Nazis in Germany who explained the reasoning behind all of the most wicked actions ever done in the history of the modern world that they committed. The Nazis claimed they were cleansing the planet. For years, they dehumanized all of those they would eventually kill so as to create the moral justification for all the crimes they would commit. That is how a nation can descend to a level of such barbarism. They must first convince themselves that what they are doing is a moral imperative.

The military dictatorship of Iran may still not be knocked out completely, but it most certainly has begun a steep descent towards its downfall. That is why the latest tactical moves of the Trump administration are not a capitulation as much as they are a pivot. Perhaps the pivot is ill-advised. Perhaps the pivot was unnecessary and has the United States and Israel continued for another few weeks, the Iranian revolution would have begun.

But President Trump is understandably concerned first and foremost with staying in power and not in the crosshairs of non-stop Congressional inquiries and impeachment proceedings by a Democrat-controlled Congress. And that applies to his family too. Remember, they are also in the crosshairs. And President Trump knows that if he pivots for 4-5 months and then goes back to his original plan of knocking out the Iranian dictatorship following the midterm elections, Iran will not be able to gain back anywhere close to its original military capabilities.
