Iran is expanding its influence in the Middle East and like always focused on two areas- Israel and Saudi Arabia. For Iran, its war against Saudi Arabia is of key importance in Shiite eschatology. After all, both Shiite and Sunni view the other as apostates.
This is why Iran is using its proxy in Yemen, the Houthis to attack Saudi Arabia. The war between the two, since Biden took over as US President has seen Saudi Arabia lose ground against the Iranian backed forces. So much so, that the Houthis were able to attack multiple areas inside Saudi Arabia proper.
Iran’s main goal is to weaken the Saudi Kingdom and ultimate control the major oil transit route up the Red Sea.
