Historic

This is unbelievable and historic. The United Nations does everything in its power to negate any connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem. And now this! A special Jerusalem exhibit in the UN building in New York. It shows the 3,000 year connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem. Truly historic.

In the following video Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah, along with Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin (Likud) and Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, on Thursday walk through the Jerusalem exhibit currently being presented at the UN building in New York.

Archeological Finds

The archeological finds on display are fascinating. Some of the finds include a 1,700-year-old seal “belonging to the governor of the city” found in the Western Wall Plaza. A seal bearing the name of King Hezekiah from the eighth century BCE. And a seventh century BCE seal with the inscription “the fifth to Netanyahu, his sons and his relatives.”

“This is a magnificent exhibit,” the prime minister said. “There is a long history that is being cherished by us and by the friends of the Jewish people and the friends of truth… And is being denied by those who seek to erase the history of our people.  Our connection to our land and our connection to our eternal capital, Jerusalem.”

Netanyahu Sticks it to the UN

The title of the exhibit is: “3,000 Years of History: Jews in Jerusalem.” Yet there was a UN sign that said that the exhibit contents were not “endorsed” by the United Nations. It stated that its sponsors were solely responsible for the exhibit. An anonymous United Nations representative explained that all exhibits at the UN feature that sign. However, it was the perfect opportunity for the Prime Minister to give a well-deserved jab at the long standing anti-Israel agenda of the United Nations.

As the Prime Minister tweeted himself:

“Israel is displaying an exhibit here at the United Nations that shows the 3,000 year connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem. I saw a sign at the entrance that says this exhibit doesn’t represent the UN. Of course it doesn’t represent the UN. It represents the truth.”

“There is a long history that is being cherished by us and by friends of the Jewish people, and the friends of truth. It is being denied by those who seek to erase the history of our people, our connection to our land, and our connection to our eternal capital Jerusalem,” Netanyahu said while touring the exhibit.

“Hurricane Haley”

Netanyahu also made a point to say that “This exhibit would not have been possible 10 years ago. And this exhibit won’t even be necessary 10 years from now. We are changing the world. We are changing Israel’s position in the world. And above all we are making it clear that we fight for the truth and for our rights.”

Netanyahu gave credit where credit is due, highlighting the fabulous work of US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, bringing out the much needed change at the UN.

“Talk about the tailwind for Israel. We call her Hurricane Haley,” Netanyahu said. “She does magnificent work for the truth and for the defense of Israel here at the UN.”

Miraculous Times

Such an exhibit would have been unfathomable just years ago.

Ze’ev Elkin, Minister of Jerusalem said he was pleased that Israel “succeeded in showing the unvarnished truth at the UN.”

“The Jewish people’s more than 3,000 years of history in Jerusalem will not be gainsaid by any ridiculous UN decision. Our message here is both strong and clear,” he said.

“We were here over 3,000 years ago and we will be here for another 3,000 years. We will continue to struggle for the international standing of Jerusalem in the framework of our international plan at the Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage Ministry.”
