Much to the chagrin of President Trump’s critics, there is quite an impressive balance of different opinions within the White House. And those with different opinions are working together in harmony. What a change from the 1st term of President Trump.
Pete Hegseth clearly represents the more hawkish views on foreign policy in the Oval Office, while JD Vance has staked out the more reserved opinion on involvment in foreign affairs. But the main personality that President Trump seems to be in agreement with on foreign policy is Marco Rubio. The bitter battle between Donald Trump and Marco Rubio from the bruising 2016 election is ancient history. These two are clearly on the same page on nearly every issue. That is an excellent recipe for a healthy White House.
What unites all three, Hegseth, Vance, and Rubio, is that they are all very well-spoken players who understand how to handle the media very well, and how to accept the decisions of the Commander in Chief. Also, they are all what-you-see is what-you-get type personalities. What a difference from Trump’s 1st term when his group of talented Generals seemed to never be on the same page as the President on nearly any foreign policy issue.
The stars are truly aligned within the Trump administration for this major military operation against Iran. Any way it is viewed, it is indeed a war, not as President Trump has said. But it is a just war that will have a lasting ripple effect for many decades across the world. It may even serve as a blueprint for future military operations against rogue countries who work to develop nuclear weapons or international ballistic missiles to threaten entire continents.
The world is still not used to the power of ballistic missiles. Only Israel now understands how serious of a threat these missiles are. But it is just a question of time until China or Russia begin to use these missiles offensively on a scale that will shock their neighbors. The US and Israel are showing how to systematically take apart the threat. But the Iranians are displaying to the world just how deeply dug in their missile threat is. That is the result of decades of non-confrontation and military buildup.
Better late than never.
