Biden Has Embraced the Muslim Brotherhood Just Like Obama Did

On September 5, 2022 Burak Bekdil wrote in Gatestone Institute “…on July 18, Erdoğan said that Turkey would freeze Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership bids if the Nordic countries do not come into line with Turkey’s “fight against terrorist organizations.”  That might be a tough task for Finland and Sweden. In 2019, Erdoğan notoriously called half of Turks (those who do not vote for him) terrorists. The same year, Erdoğan declared the pro-Kurdish People’s Democracy Party a terrorist entity. In parliamentary elections in June 2015, that party won 13% of the national vote and 80 seats in the Turkish parliament. Nevertheless, in 2021, Erdoğan stated that the students who peacefully protested his appointment of a rector to Boğaziçi University were “terrorists.” The Nordics may find it somewhat difficult to cooperate with Erdoğan and chase 40 million-plus Turkish terrorists in addition to tens of millions of Kurds living in Turkey, Iraq, Syria — and Europe…”
The article says

“In 2019, Erdoğan notoriously called half of Turks (those who do not vote for him) terrorists.” This seems to be exactly what Biden is doing in America.

On September 2, 2022 the Gateway Pundit reported “Biden declared war on Trump and his supporters in a divisive primetime speech in Philadelphia on Thursday warning MAGA Republicans are “a clear and present danger to our democracy.”  “[T]here is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country,” the senile politician.  TRENDING: Bed Bath & Beyond CFO Jumps to His Death After Struggling Retailer Forced to Close 150 Stores  “MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution, they do not believe in the rule of law … They promote authoritarian leaders and they fan the flames of political violence,” Biden continued.”

The parallels between Biden’s policy and Erdogan’s are striking. On April 14, 2017 Michael Rubin wrote in the American Enterprise Institute “It’s been almost nine months since Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan crushed a coup attempt and then declared a state of emergency, imprisoning opposition politicians, arresting tens of thousands of perceived opponents, journalists, and civil society leaders, confiscating opponents’ businesses and bank accounts, and cracking down on the remnants of the free press. Erdogan called the coup attempt and the excuse to crush his opponents “a gift from God.”  But was the coup really “a gift from God” or was it Erdogan’s gift to himself? Was it Turkey’s equivalent of the Reichstag Fire?”

Similarly Dennis Prager said that Jan 6 was Biden’s Reichtag Fire. “

Author and talk show host Dennis Prager said the American left is using the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in the same way the Nazi Party used the 1933 Reichstag fire: as an excuse to suppress free speech and subjugate its enemies.  “This is the Reichstag fire relived,” Prager said in an interview on The Epoch Times‘ American Thought Leaders program on Thursday.”

Biden’s demonization of his opposition is similar to Erdogan’s, this may not be a coincidence considering Obama said that he developed “bonds of trust” with Turkey’s Erdogan whom he described as one of his “BFFs” and with whom he reportedly “spent more time on speaking on the phone than with any other ally”.

Perhaps this explains also Biden’s proximity to Erdogan and the Muslim Brotherhood despite Erdogan being Putin’s ally.
If Erdogan is Putin’s ally, why is Biden continuing Obama’s policy of close relations with Erdogan.

Why is Biden favoring Muslim Brotherhood allies Qatar, Turkey, Iran and abandoning Muslim Brotherhood enemies Egypt and Israel? It seems Biden’s policy is being steered by Erdogan and the Muslim Brotherhood. On May 4, 2022 Burk Bekdil described in Gatestone Institute ways in which Turkey is helping Russia “

Turkey… dismissed the idea of send its S-400 missiles to Ukraine to help Kyiv resist Russian troops…

“The Russians are buying houses and other properties in Turkey, taking advantage of the law that allows foreigners to become Turkish citizens if they invest at least $250,000. Many Russians are able to circumvent Western sanctions by transferring their money from Russian to Turkish banks and converting their rubles to Turkish liras or other currencies. All NATO member countries, with the exception of Turkey, have imposed strict sanctions on Russia…” — Wall Street Journal, April 13, 2022

“Turkey’s central bank took in about $3 billion in just two days in mid-March… That money was likely largely composed of deposits from Russians.” — Wall Street Journal, April 13, 2022

“This is how NATO ally Turkey is “fighting” the Western battle against Russian aggression. In return, the Biden administration seems to be rewarding Erdoğan.

“The Biden administration, evidently, at the behest of Turkey, has tried to kill the EastMed gas pipeline project, which could supply gas from Cyprus and Israel, via Greece, to Europe…

“Worse, the US State Department, in a March 17 letter to Congress, said that a potential sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey would be “in line with U.S. national security interests” and would also “serve NATO’s long-term unity…”

If Erdogan is Putin’s ally, and Erdogan is a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, why is Biden continuing Obama’s policy of close relations with Turkey and the Muslim Brotherhood?

On July 26, 2020 the Levant news reported “After a long eight-month investigation process, including interviewing over 60 experts on the penetration of Islamism in French society, the French Senate has produced a 244-page… report…for the first time in the West, a very important body of the State has deemed the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) a dangerous organization, whose leaders should be banned from French territory.  …The Muslim Brotherhood controls 147 mosques in France, so about 10% of all the mosques in the country…”

Please see the full report by the French Senate here.

The Muslim Brotherhood’s leaders ban from France and its designation as a dangerous organization casts a dark shadow on the Obama Administration. Obama declared that he developed “bonds of trust” with Turkey’s Erdogan whom he described as one of his “BFFs” and with whom he reportedly “spent more time on speaking on the phone than with any other ally” .  It is good to remember that both Erdogan and Huma Abedin (an assistant of Hilary Clinton while she was Obama’s Secretary of State) had links with the Muslim Bortherhood.

On January 19, 2012 Josh Rogin wrote in Foreign Policy “…in an interview with Time‘s Fareed Zakaria, Obama named his international BFFs and the surprising list includes: German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, and British Prime Minister David Cameron…”

see the interview with Fareed Zakaria here.

Obama had a “special relationship” with Erdogan whom he requested to convey a message to Iran’s supreme leader in 2010 as the top item in his foreign policy. On June 7, 2012 David Ignatius wrote in the Washington Post

Turkey’s ascendancy in the region may seem obvious now, but it was less so in 2009, when Obama began working to build a special relationship…Obama and Erdogan continued their courtship despite a sharp deterioration in Turkey’s relations with Israel after the Gaza war and despite U.S. worries in early 2010 that Ankara was becoming too friendly with Iran…An example of the Obama-Erdogan channel was their meeting in March at the Asian summit in Seoul. The top item was Obama’s request that Erdogan convey a message to Iran’s supreme leader about U.S. interest in a nuclear agreement…”

On January 23, 2012 Jonathan Tobin wrote in Commentary Magazine “…Obama has, according to the Post, spent more time speaking on the phone with Erdogan than any other ally. Indeed, in a cover story interview with Time Magazine, Obama told a fawning Fareed Zakaria that Erdoğan was someone with whom he had become friends and forged “bonds of trust.” It speaks volumes about the deplorable state of American foreign policy that Erdogan is someone with whom Obama is most comfortable…Under the tutelage of Obama’s buddy, Turkish democracy is in a free fall with journalists and opponents of the ruling party being jailed…”

On February 22, 2022 Middle East Eye reported “Qatar was designated a major non-Nato ally by the United States”

Defense.org reported “The designation will change the way the United States and its military interact with that country, said Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby… “It does open up a full new range of opportunities: exercises, operations and you know, perhaps, the … acquisition of capabilities as well,” Kirby told reporters during a briefing today at the Pentagon.”

Biden’s designation of Qatar as a “major non-Nato ally by the United States” is problematic. On April 11, 2018 RollCall.com reported “

Rep. Brad Sherman said the United States should look more closely into any links Qatar might have to radical groups.   “We should certainly have meetings, even with people we disagree with,” the California Democrat said in an email. “Qatar certainly has continuing contact with Hamas and we are reviewing whether they are helping to finance Hamas.”  The U.S. government considers Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic political party, a terrorist organization…Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E., Bahrain and Egypt, which imposed the embargo on Qatar, accuse the country of spreading extremism and being too close to Iran.”

On November 23,2021 the Times of Israel reported “Qatar and the Hamas terror group are reportedly working on an agreement that will use Qatari-funded fuel to pay the wages of civil servants in the Gaza Strip.  The scheme would circumvent Israeli restrictions on Qatari funding, which were imposed earlier this year over concerns that come of the cash was being used to fund terror activities.”

On February 3, 2021 the Washington Institute reported “Qatar’s support for the Muslim Brotherhood and its various branches is one of the central reasons behind its crisis in relations with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, and Bahrain.”

But Qatar is not the only Muslim Brotherhood ally the Biden administration is assisting, they are also assisting Turkey. On January 18, 2022 the Jerusalem Post reported “The US no longer supports the proposed EastMed natural-gas pipeline from Israel to Europe, the Biden administration has informed Israel, Greece and Cyprus in recent weeks.  State Department officials conveyed the new position to the Foreign Ministry, a diplomatic source in Jerusalem confirmed Tuesday. The Foreign Ministry declined to comment on the matter.  The reversal of position from that of the Trump administration was first reported in Greece earlier this month… Claims over natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean have been a point of contention with Turkey in recent years, with Ankara saying it should be part of the EastMed project…”

On December 13, 2021 Ahval reported “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan says he wants to reconcile with his political rivals in the region, but his reluctance to abandon support for the Muslim Brotherhood is a key stumbling block to improved ties, Pınar Tremblay wrote in a column for Al Monitor on Sunday.  Since the Arab Spring, Turkey has become a hub for exiled officials of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is considered a terrorist group by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Syria.  “Turkey’s bargaining chips are scarce, and its support for the MB is probably one of the few that still matters,” said Tremblay, who is a visiting scholar of political science at California State Polytechnic University.”

On February 14, 2021 Yoram Ettinger wrote in Israel Hayom “US President Joe Biden is about to re-embrace the Muslim Brotherhood – in the mold of the Obama/Biden administration – in defiance of all pro-US Arab countries, which consider the Muslim Brotherhood a clear and present, existential terrorist threat.

Sir John Jenkins, a top British specialist on the Muslim Brotherhood, political Islamism and the Middle East, and former Executive Director of the British International Institute for Strategic Studies-Middle East branch, once offered the following advice: “[The West] should resist the temptation to seek to understand the Muslim Brotherhood through our own cultural or epistemological [knowledge] categories.”

…”Islamism – to which the Muslim Brotherhood is central – like other totalizing, anti-rational and authoritarian ideologies is a profound ideological challenge to the modern Western conception of the rational state and its foundational principles,” he warned.

…These are not mere ideals; witness the Muslim Brotherhood’s political and terrorist efforts to topple the regimes in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Morocco, Jordan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, etc.

…The 2021 policy towards the Muslim Brotherhood is consistent with President Carter’s 1978/79 policy towards the exiled Ayatollah Khomeini, who was perceived as a peaceful political dissident, oppressed by the Shah of Iran. This facilitated the ayatollahs’ rise to power, stabbed the pro-US Shah in the back and transformed Iran into a global epicenter of anti-Western and anti-Sunni terrorism and a proliferator of non-conventional military technologies. This worldview has led the Biden team to assume that Iran’s ayatollahs – irrespective of their consistently ruthless track record – are credible negotiators; potential partners for peaceful-coexistence and influence-sharing with their Sunni Arab neighbors; amenable to ending domestic repression and disavowing their fanatical, megalomaniacal, religious vision. Furthermore, the Biden team assumes that waiving the US military option constitutes a prerequisite to constructive negotiation with the rogue Ayatollahs.   President Biden’s team played a key role in the initiation and formulation of the 2015 nuclear accord with Iran (JCPOA). In 2021, it aspires to rejoin the accord with some modifications.  The same team co-led the 2009 embrace of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, while abandoning the pro-US Mubarak on the grounds of the latter’s poor record in the areas of human rights and democracy.  This provided a tailwind to the Muslim Brotherhood’s subversion throughout the region – supported mostly by Turkey’s Erdogan and Qatar – and eroded US credibility and its posture of deterrence among all pro-US Arab regimes. In 2021, the Biden team seems to adhere to the same policy, serving Egyptian President Sisi notice because of human rights violations, while courting the Muslim Brotherhood…”

Biden is not only assisting Muslim Brotherhood allies it is also denying assistance to countries like Egypt who consider the Muslim Brotherhood a terror organization. In 2021 Senator Ted Cruz denounced the Biden administration for releasing Muslim Brotherhood extremists and denying funds to Egypt “WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, this week delivered remarks on the Senate floor blasting President Biden’s nominee for Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs, Barbara Leaf. In his remarks, Sen. Cruz slammed the Biden State Department and Ms. Leaf for hiding dangerous political decisions from Congress and the American people. Read excerpts of his floor remarks below.  “I rise today to discuss the growing threats to American national security into the security of our friends and allies in the Middle East.

“Under President Obama and Vice President Biden, the policies put in place were a catastrophe for our allies in the Middle East, and a boon to our enemies.”  […]  “Once again, the Biden-Harris administration is boosting the Muslim Brotherhood and other religious extremist groups in the Middle East. They’re elevating the Palestinians at the expense of our Israeli and Arab allies. And they’re dismantling pressure on Iran. And once again, they are hiding those details from Congress. They do not want Congress to know, and they do not want the American people to know. And in some cases, unfortunately, they are outright lying.

“Madam President, I know that President Biden and his administration are refusing to answer, even lying about their Middle East policies, because I asked them. I asked them as part of questioning Barbara Leaf, the president’s nominee to the Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs. Over the next several minutes, I’ll discuss the answers I got back. Ms. Leaf has been and will continue to be at the center of the Biden-Harris administration’s Middle East policy. She was responsible for Middle East policy from the very beginning of this administration as the Senior Director for Middle East and North African Affairs at the National Security Council.

“In her new position to which she has been nominated, she would be America’s most senior diplomat for the Middle East. I asked Ms. Leaf written questions about the Biden administration policies in multiple areas of Middle East policy as part of her testimony in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“Her answers ranged from deliberately non-responsive to simply false. And throughout thoroughly, deeply distressing. For example, right now, today, the Biden-Harris administration is withholding $130 million of assistance for security and counterterrorism from our Egyptian allies, allegedly on human rights concerns. What we don’t know is exactly why they’re doing it, and exactly what the Biden-Harris administration is asking for.

“Under the Obama administration, the United States repeatedly inexplicably boosted the Muslim Brotherhood, which openly advocated terrorism against the United States. Those extremists were boosted at the expense of moderate Arab allies. And they consistently misled the public about their goals.

“Here, the only reason the American public found out in the first place about this $130 million is because the Washington Post revealed it.  “The Biden Harris administration didn’t explain to the American people what they were doing, it was only the reporting of journalists that revealed it, and we still don’t know enough. We don’t know the details. The Post reported that ‘the administration is withholding the aid until Egypt addresses certain human rights concerns.’

“We don’t know what they are. They apparently include releasing 16 unnamed prisoners. We don’t know who they are. So I asked Ms. Leaf about these details. I asked about the 16 people. I asked for their names, their institutional affiliations, what they were charged with. I also asked if they were American citizens, and if they were not, I asked whether they were involved in organizations that push Islamic extremism or anti-Semitism. Ms. Leaf is obviously very familiar with the case. She wrote back over 1,000 words of highly, highly technical responses.”  […]

“The answer from Ms. Leaf to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is not to put too fine a point on it ‘go jump in a lake.’ How many of those 16 are affiliated with terrorist organizations? The answer from Ms. Leaf, ‘go jump in a lake.’ How many of them are American citizens? The answer from Ms. Leaf, ‘go jump in a lake.’ Why is that? Why is it that the Biden-Harris administration is extorting Egypt to release 16 prisoners, and yet they’re embarrassed to say who those prisoners are?”  […]

“Who are they? Well, let’s start with Salah Soltan. Who is Salah Soltan? He is a Muslim Brotherhood propagandist. He’s a hate preacher. He is someone who goes on TV over and over again and preaches the most vicious sorts of libels against Jews. Why are Senate Democrats trying to release vicious anti-Semites? Why are they suggesting – if you go back to the appropriation language – why are they suggesting in the appropriation language that the United States should be fighting to release that anti-Semite and hate preacher? We don’t know, because Senate Democrats aren’t defending that position, and the administration refuses to answer.  “Who are some of the other people on that list? Well, you have Muhammad El-Baqer. He was a Salafist youth activist. He was part of the revolutionary youth who started the revolution. And he’s been implicated in security violations. How about Ola Al-Qaradawi she is the daughter of Yosef Al-Qaradawi, who was one of the major voices for Jihad inside the Muslim Brotherhood. The paper trail on her is deliberately opaque from both sides.”  […]

“When I asked Ms. Leaf about it, she provided 1,000 words and not a single name. And I will tell you that actually the names on that list are not secrets from Congress. They have been provided to Congress in a classified form. So, Madam President, you and I can go into a secure skiff, and we can read it in a SCIF. We can read the names. You know what we’re not allowed to do? Tell anyone what the names are. Why is it those names are classified? They’re classified because President Biden and Vice President Harris don’t want the American people to know who it is they’re trying to release. There’s no reasonable justification for those names to be classified. They’re extorting our friend and ally Egypt to get 16 people released from jail, and they refuse to tell us who. The American people have a right to know if the Biden administration is trying to pressure our allies to release Muslim Brotherhood extremists, if the Biden-Harris administration is trying to get our allies to release anti-Semites, and if they are, to hear a justification for why. But Ms. Leaf instead simply defies the Senate and refuses to answer…”
