The Abraham Accords continue to realign the Middle East as Bahrain, one of the original signatories to the accords met with Israeli official to finalize steps to open its embassy in Israel.

Why is this important and why now?

Over the last few weeks as nuclear talks stall between the great powers and Iran as well as the ascendency of Ebrahaim Raisi to the Iranian presidency, the region appears as if is careening towards an all out war. The July 29 attack on the MT Mercer Street, an oil tanker managed by Israel shook the G-7 into action as they began to realize that Iran has no intention of capitulating.

The Bahraini meeting with Israeli officials is a signal to Iran and others that the Abraham Accords is moving forward despite a clear threat from Iran. The Abraham Accords is fast becoming an alliance that is shoring up its loose ends in the face of renewed hostilities with the radical Iranian regime.

With Biden dawdling and Western Europe increasingly beholden to Russia, the Sunni Arab states and Israel are now forced to defend themselves on their own.
