Playing Soccer in Hebron
Hebron is one of the four holy cities in Israel. Sadly, there is a lot of conflict there as many Arabs do not want Jews to live in the holy Jewish city. The Jewish people would be happy to live peacefully, but that is not possible when so many Arabs want the Jewish nation obliterated.
Having said that, not everything is always filled with tension there. In Hebron, there are moments that show it is possible to live peacefully together. The world needs to know that and see that the Jews just want to live in their G-d given land. Jewish children just want to play, and they are happy to play with Arab children if those Arab children do not want to harm them.
It’s sad that everyday can’t be filled with these moments instead of moments of hatred. As Former Prime Minister of Israel Golda Meir said, “If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.” If only the world really understood that. The Jewish people do not instigate. They just try to defend themselves against the evil that surrounds their tiny country.
We all pray that one day soon, more Arabs will want peace. And that will mean more Arab and Jewish children will be happily playing together in the streets of the holy land of Israel.
