One does not need to be a military expert to prove that what Israel is doing in Gaza is NOT genocide. One does not need to be a military expert to defend the actions of the American, British, Russian and other Allied Armies in World War II – who cumulatively killed millions of German soldiers and German civilians. War is deadly, especially to those who start the war. Millions of Germans were killed then. Tens of thousands of Arabs were killed in the last year. Absolutely true.
Without the German Army and Austro-Hungarian Army attacking Belgium and Russia, World War I would not have begun, and millions of soldiers and civilians would have been saved. Without the German Army attacking Poland, and then Belgium and France and other countries, millions of German soldiers and civilians would not have been killed. Of course, there were excesses in the manner in which the Allies defeated the German Army. Perhaps Dresden did not need to be pummeled completely to the ground, but that is nothing more than a minor detail in the big story.
Germany needed to be defeated completely, occupied, and reformed. The world simply could not continue allowing one dictatorship with enormous power to try to take over all of Europe – and more – every 20-30 years. The millions of soldiers from the Allies side, mainly Russian soldiers, were all killed because of German expansionism. Every single American and British soldier was killed because of Germany. Every single German civilian was killed because of Germany. Woodrow Wilson and FDR had absolutely no interest whatsoever in bombing Germany and occupying West Germany. Germany forced FDR to do it. Wilson should have done it.
Israel is in a strikingly similar situation. Germany was quite powerful, especially when Japan joined in on their side. But when the Allies put together their manufacturing capabilities, wealth, and their willingness to fight and sacrifice to insure freedom from Germany, the Allies were more powerful. One could argue that much of the greatest human tragedy of World War II could have been avoided. But the Allies had strong policy streaks of isolationism, appeasement, and collaboration with the German enemy throughout the 1930’s. That allowed the German monster to grow and grow instead of being stopped in their tracks years before 1939. Millions of soldiers on all sides could have been saved, and the terrible Holocaust could have been a fraction of what it was. But it took years for the Allies to regroup, put together a battle plan, drive the enemy back, and then destroy them.
The wake-up call that Israel received on October 7th will not be forgotten – ever – by any Israeli that is alive today. Israel is indeed in their 2nd War of Independence. But this war, as Prime Minister Netanyahu eloquently declared, will be ended by Israel – on Israeli terms. Those terms will be the eradication of the Hamas as a political and military entity, and a weakened Hizbullah that will pose a minor threat on Israel’s new and improved northern border. As for the Arab civilians that Hamas and Hizbullah is responsible for – they are all the responsibility of Hamas and Hizbullah.
