When a Jew yearns to come home to the land of Israel, it’s not just a regular yearning. It’s the yearning of a people who just want to live in their ancient, ancestral homeland. It’s the yearning of a nation who wants to follow G-d’s ways in His special, chosen land. You can’t explain the feeling of being in Israel as a Jew; of walking the streets of Jerusalem.
For thousands of years, the Jewish people wandered throughout the world. They called places “home,” but all those homes were temporary. The only real home for the Jewish people is Eretz Yisrael, the land of Israel. We have been dreaming about it, learning about it, talking about it, praying for it, and singing about it for centuries upon centuries.
And then, with G-d’s help, miraculously the Jewish people returned home. The final redemption has begun. It’s impossible to ignore what is happening before our eyes. Biblical prophecies are unfolding. Modern day miracles are happening. Things are still not perfect. The complete redemption has not yet happened. But we are on our way. And we must do everything we can to speed up the process.
