The number of prophecies that are unfolding in our times is truly staggering. From the terrible calamities to the unbelievable miracles that seem to be taking place every day, it is hard to keep up with the pace of current events.

But of all of the “proofs” that are brought that indicate that the Bible is divinely inspired, there is one that is perhaps more inexplicable than any other. It is the story of the ingathering of the exiles. The Jewish people have truly been scattered to the four corners of the earth as prophesied. There is no corner of the world that does not have at least a small Jewish community. And there is no place in the entire world that has not seen Jewish people returning to their eternal homeland.

Plain and simple, this has never occurred, nor ever will occur to any other people. Nations have arisen and fallen. Kingdoms have lasted for hundreds of years. But all of them, in one way or another fall into oblivion. At the very least, those who leave and immigrate far away end up leaving the customs and lands of the previous generations.

There are tens of millions of Americans of Italian descent. There are tens of millions of Americans of Irish descent. No more than a tiny fraction of them long, pray, and plan to return to Italy or Ireland. That is the way regular people live in the world. That is the way it has always been and always will be.

But not for the Jewish people. The Jewish people, no matter how far away they stray from the Land of Israel, always long to return – in one way or another. Some only say the words, “Next Year in Jerusalem.” Others connect via charity causes in the Land of Israel. But many visit and some even return to living in the Land of their forefathers.

What makes this phenomenon so fascinating is that the Jewish people seem to assimilate into the countries that they live in more than many of the country’s own inhabitants. That would seem to indicate that the Jewish people have lost their connection to their Land. But as is often noted, the Jewish people have such an incredibly deep connection to the Land of Israel because they are the quintessential example of a people that are indigenous to a Land. The bond is not only an ancient bond that goes back thousands of years. It is a bond that is thousands of years deep.

This excellent documentary does a great job at scratching the surface of the one-of-a-kind nation’s story of its Biblical bond with its homeland.
