Speaking with Dr. Zev Davidovics, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, accredited in the USA and Israel, as well as an international expert on poop.
Israel is a world leader in water recycling. We recycle nearly 90 percent of wastewater that is treated for reuse, most of it in agricultural irrigation.
Part of Israel’s water recycling is based on an extremely well-developed waste management system in municipalities across the country. Thanks to this advanced waste management system, Israeli scientists have been able to do pinpoint, municipality based research of the bacteria in the poop coming into the waste management plants. That research has proved to produce extremely valuable information that is helping Israel be better prepared for a second wave of a corona outbreak.
Thanks to this daily ongoing research, the Israeli authorities will have realtime data to know what municipalities will be experiencing another corona outbreak.
Who knew poop would come in handy to help our country deal with this pandemic.
I’m very grateful to have a cousin who is an expert in this field to be able to interview and educate people about this important development.
Please feel free to share this interview with officials in your cities so that they can look into harnessing this method as well.
