The amount of things that went wrong on October 7th is so sad, and so terrible. The cost will continue to be felt for many years to come. But what is also now being revealed is to what extent there were miracles within the disaster.
The most apparent miracle within the disaster was the inability of Hamas, Hizbullah, the Houtis and Iran to coordinate their attacks in a way that would have created an impossible situation for Israel to defend and counterattack effectively. Israel was able to rebound within a week or two and begin the drive back towards destruction of most of the Hamas terror infrastructure – even if it did not finish the job.
But within a year or so of the initial attack, Lebanon’s terror infrastructure was also well on it’s way to being destroyed, Syria had begun to unravel from the inside, and Iran’s air defense capabilities were stripped down to barely nothing. The confidence and determination that Bibi Netanyahu showed in his facial expressions grew as the war in the south continued on and on. In the second year of the war, Netanyahu finally carried through with the attack of Iran, something that had literally been planned for decades. American cooperation in the attack created a powerful blueprint for future deterrence across the entire world.
Few could have imagined that Israel would be in the situation it is in now, two years after the colossal debacle of October 7th. But, it is indeed the determination of the young and not-as-young fighters who have shown enormous bravery to battle back in defense of the Jewish people that is perhaps the greatest of all miracles. The spirit of the Jewish people is alive, well, and growing in the Land of Israel.
