It may seem like a minor thing that Jerry Seinfeld supports the Israel Defense Forces. After all, isn’t it obvious that any Jewish person who supports Israel would support the Israel Defense Forces? Sadly, the answer is no. May people today, especially young Jewish people do not support the State of Israel. Plain and simple, they see Israel as an occupier of foreign lands and they see Israel as an occupier of a land that that is not their land. This mindset is not at all based on facts or education. It is based on what is stylish. Today, it is not stylish for many young people to support Israel.

This must change. And the only way it will change is when young people are taught the modern and ancient history of the Jewish people in their Homeland. The Homeland of the Jewish people has been the Land of Israel for more than 3,000 years, longer than any other people’s bond to any Land, in the history of the world. The claim of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel is rock solid, and includes more than 800 years of sovereignty in the Land of Israel, more than 2,000 years of longing to return to the Homeland, and hundreds of millions of dollars of purchases of the Land from people who claimed ownership of the Land when the Jewish people ultimately returned to the Land.
But the opposing claim, namely that the Land belongs to the so-caled “palestinian people” is a claim that goes back approximately 50-60 years, is based on nearly nothing but hatred of Jews. The super weak claim of he Arabs to the Land is also based in large part to an enormous dose of jealousy of what the Jewish people have created in the first 70+ years of the State of Israel.
So when a well-known A-list TV personality decides to make a stand, even with a simple, “Go IDF” statement, it is more than just a minor thing. For many, it should at least stir their minds to at least ask the question, “Why should I support the IDF?”
