Does Donald Trump want to run for President again? Yes. Will he run again? That’s a different question. He clearly believes that the 2020 election was stolen. So, as he said, he may just have to “win the election for a 3rd time.” But, there are another 2 years to go before he has to make a formal decision. The major wild card is this one issue – will Joe Biden limp across the finish line in 2024, or will Kamala Harris take over at an earlier date?
For those who study people with significant mental decline like Joe Biden, they know that although things don’t get better, they generally deteriorate rather slowly. From day to day and even month to month, Joe does not look much worse than his already dazed and confused manner of carrying himself. But 2022 will see major slipups that would not have happened in 2021, and 2023 will see even more. Jill sees Joe in the evening, as opposed to most of his other advisers. At some point, probably within the year of 2022, Jill will call a meeting with the Democrat Party leadership and say, “This can’t go on.” Most of the Democrat leadership probably hope that Biden will make it till Nov 2022. Otherwise, they are worried that a Biden exit will augment the anti-Democrat momentum.
If Biden exits with a low popularity rate, Donald Trump will probably be more inclined to run, and if he does he will be a formidable candidate to win the Republican nomination. The only non-announced candidates on the horizon that have a chance against him now are Nikki Haley and Ron Desantis. But, both will probably wait for Trump to decide first. The best option for the Republican Party may be Mike Pompeo, the only member of the Trump administration who speaks so moderately that he may soften the anti-Trump voters into voting for pro-Trump policies without the distractions of a Donald Trump at the helm. But if Trump runs, Pompeo will sit it out for another four years.
