Covert activities are not always fought by brave people dressed in undercover clothing. It is often done in bright lights inside the offices of Israel’s computer intelligence departments. The entire country knows that this is one of the most important tasks that anyone can perform in the Israeli Army. It is not something that one can divulge t their friends. But people know. And usually, these are the most sought-after Army graduates by leading hi-tech companies.
So much of the ballistic missile threat today is based on complex computer programs. The solution is to have a better department to combat this from several angles. One angle is to penetrate the systems of the enemy and disrupt their plans. Another is to not penetrate but defend. A third method is to work towards having a spy on the inside that can divulge the secrets of the enemy.
There is no doubt that Israel has been working on all of these three directions. Disruption can often come from unexpected angles. One of these angles is via the brilliant computer minds of the Israeli engineers. This is not a new development in Israel, but it is a branch of Israel’s Army that is growing from year to year in importance. More and more will come out about this, but it will be many years until all of the details are revealed.
