Unbridled immigration is one of the most effective ways to gradually destroy a country. One can argue that immigration is what built up America, and the more people that America allows in the greater the country will become. Well, that is indeed true and false. It is true that a large productive population is what turns a country into a major powerhouse. But it is also true that a large unproductive population is what destroys a country.
But it is more complex than that. Many of the immigrants who are flooding into the United States today will be productive citizens. But just as many, probably a majority are coming because America has become the new standard-bearer as a country that hands out money and social services for free. Moreover, when cities like New York allow non-citizens the right to vote, that basically means that people have little incentive to become citizens. Therefore, citizenship becomes a low priority and something that is cheapened.
This matters because Americans used to take pride in becoming American citizens and then identified with their new country following their immigration. Today, that is no longer the case. More and more new non-immigrants identify less and less with the United States of America. They view it as a country to take advantage of and less a country to identify with.
Some people use the terminology of a “fifth column.” That may be overreaching. But what this is all about is Democrat policies with the intent to hold on to power as long as possible. The long term effects will be felt for many years to come.
