Israeli Wimbledon Champion Quotes Bible Live on BBC
Guy Sasson quoted the verse from the Bible here about Israel rising like a great lion. This is Biblical verse where the name of Israel’s operation in Iran came from – “Am K’Lavi.”
There are so many amazing things about this. The fact that Israel’s representative at the Wimbledon quad doubles won and then quotes the Bible is truly remarkable. And that it happened live on the BBC – the platform for so much antisemitism.
The Jewish people are a spiritual people. We yearn for connection with G-d. Even though we sometimes veer from the path, our souls are always seeking the One Above. There are many Jews who don’t seem outwardly religious, yet they too yearn to connect with G-d. They also love their Judaism and the Bible. And it seems like many nowadays are searching and yearning even more.
You might expect people to be angry with G-d after everything the Jewish people have experienced over the years. But quite the opposite. The Jewish people have chosen to become closer and follow His ways with greater passion. What a unique and special nation! When our enemies try to defeat us, we come back stronger and closer to G-d. It doesn’t make logical sense. But the Jewish people don’t live according to logic. We live, often with open miracles, because G-d has chosen us to stay alive and bring Him into this world.
