American Youth Killed in Meron
Nachman Daniel Morris z”l, or as he was known by Donny, was one of the American citizens killed in the tragedy in Meron on Lag Ba’omer. He was studying for the year in Israel away from his family. Sadly, Donny was one of the young teens who perished in Meron. He was just 19 years old. The way his family, friends, and teachers spoke about him testify to how special of a young man he was. In just 19 years, he accomplished what many try to accomplish in decades more. In such a short life, he made an impact on so many. He seems to have been mature beyond his years. Many 19 year olds are still figuring themselves out, and Donny seemed to have already had his direction in life.
It is clear from this gathering that he was special. People from around Israel wanted to come and pay their respects. Thousands attended the funeral in person, and 70,000 watched the livestream.
I can guarantee you that he did not personally know 70,000 people. But that shows that all of the Jewish people are one family. And 70,000+ people were affected by the loss of one 19 year old boy.
His Burial on the Mount of Olives Overlooking the Temple Mount
Very few people today have the merit of being buried on the Mount of Olives overlooking the Temple Mount. The burial was extremely emotional and spiritual as well, for his family and close friends.
