While there is much talk about a potential normalization deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia, it has mostly been played down due to a wide ranging set of issues. Ultimately the Saudi leadership wants a “palestinian” state in Judea and Samaria with Jerusalem as its capital. This has been the stumbling block so far.
Now there is a report that Ron Dermer, Bibi’s confidant and Minister of Strategic Affairs is being sent to the USA to discuss the deal.
Wall reported that Dermer will leave on August 17 for a series of meetings with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, as well as Middle East envoy Brett McGurk and US Special Envoy for International Energy Affairs Amos Hochstein.
Dermer’s office insists that the visit is a routine trip to meet with US officials.
