CNN’s Jake Tapper is generally speaking one of the best that CNN has, if not the best journalist on its staff. He clearly though, in this interview, is determined to knock the Trump campaign off its footing by promoting the line of Donald Trump being a threat to America via Trump’s willingness to use the military to confront those that Donald Trump terms “lunatics.” As an honest reporter or interviewer, he should have clearly allowed JD Vance to finish sentences, but that was clearly not Tapper’s plan. Tapper was trying to pump up the pressure on labeling Donald Trump as a fascist.
Well, JD saw the trap coming and did as best as he could to explain that Tapper was setting up a trap for him, and not actually having a genuine political interview focused on getting to the heart of the matter. But, let’s analyze the issue that CNN – via Jake Tapper – is trying to promote, namely, the the concern that Donald Trump has fascist tendencies and that Trump would not hesitate to use the American military against the citizens of the United States if he deemed it necessary.
Most Donald Trump supporters will probably dismiss the allegations by Jake Tapper. But their actually is some truth to them. All powerful Presidents should be questioned about whether or not they will be too powerful. However, Trump’s image as a strong leader who may tend to go too far – like on Jan. 6th – may not be such a bad thing. It may actually be one of the main reasons to vote for Donald Trump in the first place.
Donald Trump, as JD Vance explained, is not a fan of sending US troops overseas and getting embroiled in unending wars. Trump was not a big fan of the Iraq War, and certainly not the handling of the Iraq War as it dragged on for many years. He clearly was planning a US withdrawal from Afghanistan too, albeit in a completely different manner than the Biden administration’s fiasco of running away in broad daylight without billions of dollars of weaponry.
But both of these are not the main threats facing the United States today. The “enemy within,” a term that Donald Trump does use, is an absolutely true concept that is growing at an alarming rate. Let it be said clearly. The rioting across the United States that was led by the Black Lives Matter, and the hooligans on college campuses who physically threatened Jews across tens of the “best” colleges across the USA, are all part of a threat that is indeed properly termed as the “enemy within.” The open borders are only exacerbating the issue every day. AOC and Rashida Tlaib, both of whom were legitimately elected into Congress, are working day and night to bring America to its knees via support of looting and larceny in broad daylight and support of massive anti-Jewish movements on college campuses and outside of them.
Donald Trump claims to support a policy that says that if a State does not do it’s job to protect the rights and freedoms of it’s citizens than the Federal Government should intervene with the National Guard to protect those rights and freedoms. Is that something to label as fascist? On the contrary, that is perhaps exactly what the authors of the Constitution had in mind.
But, in all fairness, an overreaching Executive Branch is always something to be concerned about. And that most certainly is something the Founding Fathers had in mind when defining the role of the President and his limits of power. The United States has a rather effective set of check and balances in place that truly protect the “little citizens” from an overreaching government. First of all, there are mid-term elections, wherein if Donald Trump goes too far, the entire Republican Party will probably get shellacked in Congressional elections in 2026. Secondly, the Supreme Court, no matter what the topic at hand, has shown itself to not be in anybody’s pocket, and they have the ability to clamp restrictions that are not insignificant.
But most importantly, the true threat to the freedoms of Americans has consistently been from the angle of the Democrats who are always working to limit the rights of Americans to bear arms and express themselves freely. Allowing rioters free reign of the cities of the United States is not a sign of being pro-freedom. It is a sign of being pro-anarchy. Donald Trump will be a law and order President as opposed to Kamala Harris who will be an anarchy supporting President who will bring California policies to the entire USA. The enemy within is a real threat and Trump is right on this matter.
The main concern should be the freedoms of Americans that are under attack, not the overreaching of the Executive Branch which won’t last more than two years.
