BREAKTHROUGH: Jews Sing Hatikvah On The Temple Mount

by Micha Gefen

On Tisha B’Av, Knesset member Amichai Chikli and many others ascended the Temple Mount and did something revolutionary.

The Knesset member and his group stood in front of the Dome of the Rock, the very site of the destroyed Temple and sang Israel’s national anthem – Hatikvah. This revolutionary move might not seem like much, but in the current political climate represents a sea change in the Jewish nation’s relationship to their most sacred site.

Chikli’s move like many of his other decisions like standing up to Bennett’s partnership with the Arabs shows what real leadership is all about. It may not seem like much, but this statement of sovereignty has been a long time coming.

The Bennett-Lapid government may not have intended a changing situation on the Temple Mount, but in many ways if there is a change – Chikli will be one of those that deserves the credit.
