Biden Needs to do More to Stop Russia
President Biden is placing some sanctions on Russia, but he’s not targeting the main thing. He has placed sanctions on Russian oligarchs and carried through with other sanctions. But Biden has not sanctioned Russian oil exports. Much of US oil comes from Russia. And although the Biden admin says it is still on the table to place those sanctions on Russian oil, his administration says that it will only raise gas prices for Americans. They don’t think it’s worth it to place that sanction right now.
The problem is that without sanctioning Russian oil, the money continues to flow to them. And then they continue to have money for the war against Ukraine.
Will Biden not sanction Russian oil because of politics? Because he will lose more votes if oil prices go up? Is he really doing what’s best? Are his other sanctions enough? Many think not. The question is: What will President Biden do next?
