The historic bond that Israel has with the Land of Israel goes back more than 2,000 years longer than the advent of Islam. But the Jewish bond was never severed. The yearning to return always exised. But, it took till the beginning of the 19th century for the movement to go from a yearning to the beginning of a national movement.
At first, it was just a few dozen families. But then, with the advent of modern nationalistic movements, the Jewish people also took up the cause and began to actually live out the yearnings and risk their lives to return to their ancestral homeland. Hundreds became thousands, and soon thousands became tens of thousands who took up the challenge and returned to their ancient Homeland. The model nation that has the most enduring bond to their homeland are indeed the Jewish people. Short lecture, but in it he says so much.
