BBC Gets a Major Slap in the Face from an Israeli Arab

The BBC is one of the most important fixtures of news broadcasting in the western world. It broadcasts the news to the world and sheds light to enormous numbers of people all over the world. It has been doing this for approximately 100 years. But it is also a network that has adopted a decidedly contrarian angle in so many of their interview shows. They are probably better at getting under the skin of their interviewees than nearly any other news network. That creates rather riveting television. But they also have a strong tendency of going too far and taking horribly wrong political stances on some issues. When it comes to Israel, the BBC has probably had it wrong longer than nearly any other news network.

The BBC deserves a good reality check every now and then. During the multitude of times that Israel has had thousands of missiles raining down on them over the years, the BBC has treated the attacks on Israel as minor annoyances that Israel should tolerate. They have repeatedly labeled Israel as an occupier of Gaza even after Israel unilaterally removed all of it’s Army from Gaza and basically gave the Arabs their own State in Gaza.

So when the BBC acts as if they are surprised by the truth, that should also be taken with a grain of salt. They are a pro-Arab and anti-Israel station today that only point their accusatory finger at Israel and not at the Arabs attacking Israel.

If Israel gets a barrage of missiles fired on their civilian populations, the BBC asks the question, “Why is Israel still making life so miserable for those firing the missiles?” The pompousness of the BBC hearkens back to the time of the British Mandate, that lasted around 30 years, between the end of World War I and the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.

Though the British fought valiantly against the Germans and Winston Churchill’s leadership was critical to saving the free world, the White Paper policy that restricted Jewish immigration from Europe to the Land of Israel, before, during, and after the Holocaust is a national stain on England. The BBC’s attitude today towards Israel is much the same. It is a cold-hearted and biased network that must be dealt with via reality checks. This is one example of how to successfully deal with a strongly biased news network.
