What We Have Been Yearning for Over the Last 2,000 Years
Many of us don’t stop to think about what it means that our Temple was destroyed. The Jewish Temple represented G-d’s Oneness in our world. We are praying for the Temple to be rebuilt and for G-d’s presence to once again rest in this world. We pray for no more war, for there to be peace, for good to triumph over evil. All the nations will come and pray to G-d at the Temple in Jerusalem.
We are hoping for that serenity and unity amongst Jews and all people to come soon. There are many who trample upon G-d’s name now. They trample upon His people and His holy land. We want that all to come to an end. We don’t know what it will feel like because we never experienced it. But we know that it will be good. And we must pray that this good comes soon.
In the Jewish Bible, texts, songs, and more, Jerusalem is spoken of countless times. We have yearned for it and prayed for it. We face it when we pray. The Jewish people speak of this holy city constantly. In the book of Esther 4:17, our rabbis teach us that “The salvation of G-d is like the blink of an eye.” We never know when the ultimate redemption will come! It can happen at any moment…
