The Jewish American Pilot Who Helped Save Israel in 1948

When you hear a story like this one, it really makes you feel inspired. It’s incredible how there are these special Jews who are courageous enough to potentially give their lives in order to defend the Jewish people and the Jewish state. Louis Lenart volunteered to help fight for Israel in 1948. And he is a true hero because of that. He felt the responsibility to help his people. Thank G-d, the mission that Lenart led was successful. Tel Aviv was saved.

If you want to know if one person in history can make a difference, the answer is clearly yes. Of course there are those who might do things on a grander scale and make more of a public difference. But every small positive action can influence history in ways we don’t even realize. Every decision toward something good can lead to something even greater.

Learning about Jewish history can leave you on the edge of your seat. What the Jewish people have experienced—both the good and the tragedies—is intense. We have experienced extreme pain and extreme joy—sometimes simultaneously. We must always remember G-d carries us through and will continue to do so. Our covenant with Him can never be broken. And that reminder should help us overcome the challenging times.
