Mr. Mamdani has done an excellent job trying to modernize and sanitize his genuine policy positions. He has not hid what he believes in terms of Israel and specifically his plans to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu. Anyone who lives in the New York Tri-State area should be troubled by the norms that have taken over the younger generation. Plain and simple, anti-Israel values have become normalized as part of the progressive value system of always preferring the weak over the strong – no matter what the situation. But Mr. Mamdani’s socialist positions will transform New York in ways that are truly shocking.
The Democratic Socialists of America are not just another political group. They openly support terror, call America the “Empire,” and want it destroyed. Now they’re testing the waters with Zohran Mamdani in NYC before launching “1,000 Mamdanis” nationwide. pic.twitter.com/RTvSBdtC4Q

Socializing many things sounds nice. After all, shouldn’t we all care about helping the weak and redistributing some of the wealth of billionaires to enable the millions of people in New York who are struggling to make ends meet? This debate is not new at all. Liberals and conservatives have argued the merits and deficiencies of a large governement and higher taxes for hundreds of years. A large government is clearly the preferred direction of Democrats while a lean and less interventionist government is the Republican direction.
But Mamdani is not just looking to expand government in a radical fashion. He supports taking over things in such a manner that the government will dominate nearly every aspect of life in the city in order to make life as free as possible for the low-income families.
Free bussing and government owned grocery store chains may seem controversial. But it is much worse than that. Poor people do not need more handouts. They need more help to earn more. The more free things people receive the more they are incentivized to not work and earn. People need to be able to afford to pay for goods and services, not to not have to pay for goods and services. If there is anything the government should be involved in doing, it is in helping small businessmen start up – especially if they don’t have the means to get off the ground. Giving away more freebies is the polar opposite of this idea.
Mr. Mamdani’s concern with helping what he deems as victims will not rid the weak and poor of their status. It will just buy him and the Democrats more voters who want to receive freebies instead of work, earn, and pay.
