Orthodox Rabbi’s perfect response to NY officials targeting Jewish community

When the Jewish community is being targeted, we call that antisemitism. And that is exactly what NY elected government officials have done.

Targeting the Jewish Community

This is not the first time that the Jewish community has been targeted – in general of course, but specifically during this pandemic. And antisemitism is antisemitism – whoever it comes from and wherever it’s found.

Back in April, Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted: “My message to the Jewish community, and all communities, is this simple: the time for warnings has passed. I have instructed the NYPD to proceed immediately to summons or even arrest those who gather in large groups. This is about stopping this disease and saving lives. Period.”

He was blasted for specifically calling out the Jewish community.

And still, the New York officials continue to target the Jewish community. What about the thousands upon thousands of BLM and Antifa protesters gathering together and breaking rules? What about the looting, the violence, and the murder?

The example that Rabbi Steven Burg brought up at the end of this video about New York governor Andrew Cuomo singling out the Hasidim just shows how much antisemitism plays a role in the way these officials have been governing the area.

Antisemitism is still very much alive. This pandemic has become another excuse to attack Jews. It is frightening though that government officials are part of the problem. The antisemitism must stop. It is horrifying that it is still happening in America in 2020, and during a global pandemic.
