Who is Mike Pompeo?
Mike was born in 1963 in Orange, California. In 1982, Mike graduated from Los Amigos High School. Mike attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. He majored in engineering management. Mike graduated in 1986, first in his class.
From 1986 to 1991, Pompeo served in the U.S. Army. He reached the rank of Captain. In addition, Pompeo completed a Juris Doctor at Harvard Law School.
Mike Pompeo and the CIA
On January 23, 2017, the United States Senate confirmed Mike as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. President Donald Trump later stated that he would choose Pompeo to serve as Secretary of State after Rex Tillerson.
Pompeo’s views on Islamic terrorism
Firstly, Pompeo said Muslim leaders who fail to denounce Islamic terrorism are “potentially complicit” in the attacks. Furthermore, Pompeo took action. It is also especially relevant that Mike cosponsored legislation to add the Muslim Brotherhood to the United States State Department list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
Pompeo and the Iran nuclear deal
The Obama administration supported the Iran deal. However, Pompeo opposed it. Consequently, he stated that, “I look forward to rolling back this disastrous deal with the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.”
Pompeo’s views on Israel
In 2015, Pompeo visited Israel. He explains, “Prime Minister Netanyahu is a true partner of the American people”. Additionally, Mike said, “Netanyahu’s efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons are incredibly admirable and deeply appreciated”. Pompeo also knows how important it is to fight terrorism. Hence, he stated that, “In the fight against terrorism, cooperation between Israel and the United States has never been more important”. Regarding Palestinian terrorists, Mike explains it clearly. “We must stand with our ally Israel and put a stop to terrorism. Ongoing attacks by the Palestinians serve only to distance the prospect of peace”.
